Generally, you will have to make the travel arrangements yourself. Pay expenses, such as coach and train fares, up front, and claim reimbursement afterwards. To claim reimbursement of these expenses, you must send in attendance confirmation, your receipts or other proof of travel, and a completed patient travel expenses claim form to Pasientreiser. If your guaranteed waiting time has been exceeded, you can not apply digitally.
If you have needed a travel companion or had to take a taxi, Pasientreiser (Patient Travel) requires that you also submit confirmation from a doctor that this was medically necessary.
You must quote the Norwegian word «Fristbrudd» on the front of the claim form. Mark the envelope with this as well. Quote the claim number stated in the SMS you received from Helfo concerning the exceeded waiting time in the comments field on the back of the claim form. You must also state the name of your original place of treatment and ward in the same field.

If you live in Northern Norway and need to fly and/or stay in a hotel, you must call Egencia Bodø (phone 75 54 17 71), which will book and pay for this.
If you live elsewhere in Norway, you must call Pasientreiser (phone 915 05 515), which will book and pay for the flight. If you have to stay in a hotel, you need to arrange this yourself and then submit a reimbursement claim to Pasientreiser.
Note! You must quote the claim number you receive by SMS from Helfo and also mention that you are an «exceeded-waiting-time patient».
If it is medically necessary for you to have a travel companion or if you are unable to use public transport for medical reasons, you must contact your doctor to get confirmation of this. The travel organiser must obtain the confirmation.
